Manually cleaning your printhead saves ink and unclogs them so you can get back to screen printing. So, let’s dive into the ins and outs of manually cleaning Epson 1430 printer printheads so you can get back into production.  

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

With every project, you’ll need some supplies. Here’s what you’ll need to perform a manual cleaning of your Epson printer printhead: 

  • Paper towel and scissors
  • Ammonia-based window cleaner
  • Piece of paper

HOW TO DO IT

With just a few steps and a bit of patience, you’ll have your printhead up and running. Here’s eight quick steps to do it: 

  1. Lift the hood of the printer and press the “ink” button to release the printhead.
  2. Cut the paper towel 1” wide and 6” long. 
  3. Saturate the 1” strip of paper towel with window cleaner on both sides.
  4. Place the paper towel into the print pad and lay it flat.
  5. Push the printhead to the left with your hand, and let it rest on the paper towel for about 15 minutes.
  6. Once those 15 minutes are up, push the printhead back to the right and remove the paper towel. 
  7. Press the “ink” button to get the printhead back into the docking station so it’s ready to print.
  8. Open the printer utility and print a nozzle check. If you see inconsistencies or gaps in this check, repeat the process.
